I guess the Stones saw something when they said that. They saw, they hallucinated, whatever. But, years later, it somehow makes sense to me in my daze of mid-twenties chaos. It’s true, you can’t always get what you want, and if you try sometimes you just might find (that you can’t even get what you need!!!). But anyway. The truth is – life is SHORT. You could die from a life-threatening illness any day. Get hit by a car – yes it could happen to you. So what I’m saying is live it up. Don’t wait ’til tomorrow to do that thing you are putting off. Just do it now. You don’t know what tomorrow brings at all. One day you’re living happily and the next could be your last! I mean, things that happen in this life, whether good or bad, are at least part of the human experience. At least each day I’m alive I can think – OK – at least I am alive and have so much opportunity in front of me. There is so much to do while on earth, that there is not much time to mope. No one decides your destiny for you. Sure, you can get fired, you can get your applications rejected, you can break up, you can go broke. But, you’re still alive and kickin’. It’s something to be thankful for!!! And health is a huge thing to be thankful for. Health is a doorway to doing whatever the hell you want to do! What I’m trying to say is that thanking God is a huge thing – a thing to be done on a daily basis. My favorite quote from the Baha’i Writings about troubles is the following.

But I know that I have my life ahead of me and I can do whatever I want with it. No one is standing in my way. That for me is a cause for joy and elation. I was looking for John Legend’s video for Live It Up on YouTube. But, I couldn’t find it. Instead I found him serenading me on YouTube! Who would have thought….!
