i ♥ (brit boys)
Check out Raspberry Revolution, Perfectnika on a new site.
Ok. I have one particular one on my mind. Who I just witnessed win the F1 qualifying race - of course - Lewis Hamilton. I’m so happy.
A few days ago I got a comment on my blog about having omitted britpop. Well, yeah. I did. And I have to resolve the cognitive dissonance evoked by that comment. Throughout the 90s I listened to my share of britpop. I even got Gavin Rossdale’s signature at a very cozy and intimate concierto. I am not a huge fan of Liam Gallagher. But I like his music. A lot of my friends (such groupies they are!) had crushes on him. I wrote something else, but my friend who was momentarily “involved” with Liam would kill me!
So I won’t write it.
But, whatever. I also um. LOVE. The Beatles. The Rolling Stones. And my all-time favorite band, Led freakin’ Zeppelin. Who the he-doublehockysticks isn’t into britpop (well, I mean like 60s brit “pop”…rock…).
britrock. youknowwhatimean.
Prince - why are you singing Creep? Imagine if Radiohead did a version of “Controversy”…oooooh. That would get my attention.
I used to like Prodigy. Until I saw the video for that song I won’t mention. And the video made me wanna holler, throw up both of my hands.
here’s a homage. tu sais…je ne sais pas pourquoi, mais j’ai le goût d’écrire en français…en tout cas…
Big beat, as a genre, should be NULLIFIED in sacrifice for that despicable Prodigy song and video. So I’m putting the Chemical Brothers in the britpop genre.
Ok, so it’s not all 90s. And not all britpop. It’s just stuff I like.

Yves Saint Laurent, Legend.
So sad to read. I just saw the article in the New York Times that said Yves Saint Laurent has passed away at age 71. YouTube has videos dedicated to YSL. See this post on the Raspberry Revolution site.
Nous sommes chanceux d’avoir l’exposition d’Yves Saint Laurent au Musée des Beaux Arts.
Merci pour tes créations merveilleuses, Yves. Je te salue.

A must-have for this summer is the gorgeous yet simple and classic white skirt. Le Château’s, below, has that little bit of pleat that last summer’s smooth high-waists and a-lines didn’t have. It doesn’t scream for attention, but commands respect. It’s deceptively conservative - but actually, very sexy. Perfect for anything from work to a picnic on Mount Royal park. And, might I add, a chic replacement for last summer’s eyelet. You can pair it with anything. Add a jacket, a feminine blouse and silk scarf or your favorite black sweater set, with gladiators or heels for work. Pair it with a tank and ballerina flats for a casual shopping spree at the local mall. Add 70s jewel tone tops (or 90s neon, if you dare) and slingbacks to brighten up the white. Turn heads with a top-to-bottom all-white look with an added accent of chunky, safariesque collarbone candy and strappy chunky-heeled sandals. Carry it through to fall with deeper earth tones, opaque tights and leather booties.
